Maybe it's me, but it seems that even if I unlock the Bronze door (at the 2 cyclops), it stays locked (so doing NE, SW, shows the door forever locked)
Ex:
You are in a huge cavern. There is nobody here. There is nothing on the floor. ne
Your bronze key unlocks the bronze door and allows you to pass through.
You're at the top of a circular stairwell. There is nobody here. There is nothing on the floor. sw
Your bronze key unlocks the bronze door and allows you to pass through.

There is nothing on the floor. yes, bronze door is one of the doors that unlocks and keeps the key but relocks behind you, hence why the bronze key was always one of the most coveted items at lower levels.

So damn true!!! I remember how it was hard to get this key at the beginning of Ta97 !!! Pain in the ass ahaha
